Why we made this

You know when you're preparing for a big ride and you open your sock drawer, hoping your favourite pair aren't in the wash? These are those socks.

Mid-weight, with a cushioned sole, these are slightly thicker than the Ridge sock.

We wanted to make a merino sock as it dries out quickly after creek crossings, and even keeps you warm when wet. Merino is quite frankly a magical material and is a superb high-performance natural alternative to synthetic fabrics. We blended the merino with nylon for durability, plus a touch of lycra for stretch and gentle compression. The result is a sock that holds its shape and stays comfortable for many rides to come.

Details

MERINO WOOL

Wool is a great natural alternative to plastic synthetic fibres. It is low in energy and water consumption and exhibits extremely high performing properties. Merino wool fibres absorb and pull moisture vapour away from your body unlike synthetics which can only wick away the moisture once it has condensed. One square inch of skin on a merino sheep produces about 4 times as many wool fibres as other breeds of sheep.

Merino wool has paradoxical properties making it ideal for use year round. In the summer it is ideal for wicking moisture away from your body. In the winter, the natural structure of the fibre inherently blocks larger drops of water while continuing to wick away vapour. When vapour is absorbed into wool it binds to the chemical structure of the fibres and small amounts of energy are released in the form of heat. This principle is known as the "heat of sorption".

Really nice feel. Tested first in a hot day and they were amazing. I think the shrunken a bit after washing….I wonder if I made the mistake of washing them with warm water..

The Merino Sock Factor

These are exactly what I wanted out of a sock. Great fit the right height not too short as well as the Marino wicks, moisture away and stays warm even when a bit damp. There is only one way to go and that’s Marino. I have several pairs of socks and these Chromag Marino socks Sit at the top of my Mountain Bike sock drawer.

Have a few of these in circulation for daily use. They are holding up well and have great stink resistance.
Some merino socks I have had before have felt quite slippery, so my foot would move within a shoe. Not the case with these.
Slightly thicker than the Ridge sock, subtle but noticeable. I like a tighter fitting sock, have size small and a US 8 foot and the fit is good. I can run a small or medium Ridge for comparison.
